Obituary for
Dr. George Robillard

Dr. George Robillard, age 83, of Lake Wales, died peacefully at home on January 27, 2018. He now resides in heaven with his heavenly Father. George was born October 11, 1934 in Middletown, Ohio to the late Robert E. and Mamie L. Robillard. He attended Middletown Business College where he met and married Janice Lovely on August 21, 1953. They lived and worked in the Middletown area, eventually owning and operating a furniture business for 16 years. In 1971, George committed his life to the Lord and accepted God’s call to go back to school to study for ministry. “By faith”, George Robillard, obeyed and moved with his family to Lake Wales, Florida and his Journey of Faith began.
Dr. Robillard was a man who “loved his God, his family, and his country” with all his heart. He also valued education for himself and others. Even though he did not return to college until he was 36 years of age, he earned his BA degree from Warner Southern College in 1976, plus four masters’ degrees in four different areas of study. In 1993, he earned his doctorate in leadership from the University of Sarasota.
Dr. Robillard was not only a pastor and an evangelist, but traveled extensively as a pulpit supply pastor, preaching and teaching in multiple churches in Florida as well as out-of-state. You might say he was gifted with an entrepreneur spirit whereby he enjoyed new adventures and new beginnings. He started the first bookstore at Warner Southern College (now Warner University), later developed and implemented the first business program at Warner. In the early 90’s he also developed and implemented the Adult Education Degree Completion Program. However, one of his most enjoyable experiences at Warner was teaching freshmen Bible students which he did on several occasions.
George is survived by his wife of 64 years, Janice L. Robillard, and three children: Charma L. Allen (Dale), Debra S. Edwards (Eric), and Robert P. Robillard (Amy); 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, February 2, at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales, Florida. Funeral services will be on Saturday, February 3rd at 3 p.m. at the South Lake Wales Church of God with Pastor Henry J. Smith & Dr. Stephen Darr officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to South Lake Wales Church of God or Warner University.
