Howard Bryant Dickey, Sr. peacefully passed away at Good Shepherd Hospice on March 3, 2018.
Born on February 10, 1940, in Bartow, Florida to the late J. Alvis and Gladys Dickey. After his father’s death, he was raised in Brewster by his mother and step-father, Gladys & Ted Hinson.

Bryant’s life’s passion was preaching the Word of God. He was the Pastor of Shady Hammock Baptist Church in Lake Wales from 1994 – 2017. He was also the Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Mulberry, Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Comstock, Michigan, Emmanuel Baptist Church in Kalamazoo, Michigan, First Missionary Baptist Church in Pensacola, Associate Pastor at Metropolitan Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky, and Interim Pastor of Mountain View Church of God in Lynchburg, Virginia. He attended Florida Southern College, Baptist Bible Institute, and received his Doctorate of Theology from Andersonville Baptist Seminary.

Bryant is survived by his wife, Deborah Dickey, and his children: Howard Dickey, Jr., Kevin & Kim Dickey, Jan & Wayne Baker, Mary Johnson, Elizabeth & Steven Houston, and his sister, Anna Jean Springer.

He is also survived by his grandchildren: Eric & Michelle Dickey, Jason & Amanda Dickey, Logan Dickey, Mia & Ryan Polaski, Madeline & Davell Wilkerson, Sophia Johnson, and Brooke Baker. And great-grandchildren: Jacob, Natalie, Mallory, and Joshua Dickey, plus many loving family and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on March 7th at 1:00 PM at Marion Nelson Funeral Home. The family will be receiving friends at noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shady Hammock Baptist Church, P.O. Box 7459, Indian Lake
