John A. Pope of Greenwich, Ohio passed away Thursday, March 1, 2018 at the Lake Wales Medical Center.

He was born January 5, 1926 in New London, Ohio to the late Arthur F. and Fannie Pope. He was a winter resident of Florida, coming from Ohio. He was a forklift operator for Ford Motor Company in Sandusky and a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. John enjoyed the sport of car racing. He built and owned many championship cars over his racing career.

He was preceded in death by his step-father, Adelbert Eichenlaub; and grandson, Gy Dendinger.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Norma Pope; daughter, Becky Dendinger and her husband, John of Greenwich, OH; son, Gary Pope and his wife, Jerri of Greenwich, OH; sister, Patricia Entler and her husband, Phillip of Mansfield, OH; four grandsons, Clay and Jared Pope and Doug and Ty Dendinger; and seven great-grandchildren.
