Cornelia “Gwen” Bailey, 87, of Haines City, FL passed away on August 9, 2018 at her residence. She was born on April 18, 1931 in Sassafras, KY and moved here in the 1950’s from Kentucky. Gwen was retired after some 30 years with the Polk County School Board, having spent most of her time at Davenport Elementary and she was of the Presbyterian faith. Gwen loved to read and watch old musicals on the tv, but was most happy when she was with her family. She was predeceased by her parents, George and Mae Cornett Martin and her husband, Billy Joe Bailey. Gwen is survived by her son George Bailey and wife, Cheryl of Haines City; brothers, George “Phillip” Martin and wife, Leigh, Robert “Sam” Martin and wife, Susan; sister, Margaret Ann Garbus and husband Bill; grandchildren, Jeffrey Bailey, Anthony Macias, Chelsea Bailey, Noel Galindez, Nelson Galindez and great granddaughter, Reille and great grandson, Holden. A visitation will be Tuesday, August 14, 2018 from 1 pm until the funeral at 2 pm at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City.
