She was born on April 20, 1922 in Richmond Hill, NY to Joseph and Gertrude Kline-Benziger. Gertrude worked as a secretary for 20 years for St Joseph Church in Somers, NY, until her retirement in 1984, it was then that she moved to Venice, FL, and later moving to Davenport, FL, with her son, Gary, where she resided to her passing. While living in Venice she was a member of Epiphany Cathedral Church in Venice, FL and after a short retirement became secretary for Financial Planner in Sarasota, FL, for 10 years. Gertrude volunteered for the Columbiettes and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for both churches where she was a member.

Gertrude loved doing crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, cooking, and sewing/quilting. She enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling. Gertrude was a very organized woman and always kept her house impeccable. Her family remembers her as a positive and supportive woman, who saw the best in everyone. She will be greatly missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, of 54 years, T. Emmett; and son, Michael Brennan. Gertrude is survived by her sons, Gary Brennan of Davenport, FL and Robert Brennan of Lakeland, FL; daughter, Linda Rice, of Davenport, FL; four grandchildren, Kimberly, Kristie, Retha and Andrew; 10 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Monday, March 16, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Haines City, FL and the Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church in Haines City, FL.
