Harold Lee Aschenbrenner of Lake Wales passed away Friday, June 1, 2018 at his residence.

He was born February 19, 1935 in Boulder, CO to the late William and Virginia Aschenbrenner; he came here from Cheyenne, WY in 1976. He was a retired teacher and wrestling coach, of the Lutheran faith and served his country in the US Navy between 1955 – 1959. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of UDT SEAL’s and a founding member (first board of directors) of the National Navy UDT SEAL Museum in Fort Pierce. He was on Underwater Demolition Team 21, UDTR Class 15. He was a commercial diver and taught commercial diving in Fort Pierce. He was also an artist and belonged to the Frostproof Art League.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Susana Shirley Aschenbrenner; sons, Justin Aschenbrenner (Noli) of Loveland, CO and Christoph Aschenbrenner (Heather) of Atlanta, GA; foster son, Darrell Marenda (Joan) of Marietta, GA; brother, William Aschenbrenner (Pat) of Platteville, CO; sister, Donna Cannon (Vance) of Las Vegas, NV; and brother Ron Aschenbrenner (Kari) of Longmont, CO; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at a later date locally and in Colorado. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the National Navy UDT SEAL Museum (www.navysealmuseum.org).
