Jerlene believed the most important job in life was to first be a good Christian and person, so she could be the best Mom and Wife to her family. She spent most of her adult life working as a waitress, with 14 years of that being at the Holiday Inn restaurant in Dundee, FL. In her free time Jerlene loved to cook, and feed family and friends.
There was never a person that walked through her door that a meal was not offered and if she knew ahead of time the meal would be something she knew as you favorite. Spending time with her family was her number one priority, cooking, eating and laughing was a huge part of this family. Jerlene’s time with her sisters was almost magical. There was an unspoken connection that was shared between them. If the Collins girls got together, no matter what their ages, it was certain there would be shenanigans and laughter. If you were lucky enough to be with them you were laughing as well, and more than likely sitting at the dining table with a piece of homemade pie and a cup of hot coffee or glass of sweet tea.
Jerlene was preceded in death by her parents, Arville and Laura “Dewey” Collins; husband, Henry H. Maggard Sr.; sons, Randy Maggard and Danna Brent Maggard; sisters, Earthel Mullins, Margie Wood, Lou Wanda Maggard, Mary Collins Bolling, and Della Locke; and brothers, Vencil Collins and Coy Collins.
