MICHAEL’S OBITUARY
Michael C. Mulkin, 73

Michael C. Mulkin of Bartow passed away Sunday, October 18, 2020 at the Forsythe Hospice House in Auburndale.

Michael Claud Mulkin was born on August 31, 1947, in Olean, N Y to Dr. Kenneth H and Phyllis Porter Mulkin of Shinglehouse Pa. At the age of five, he moved to Warren Pa briefly and then resided in Tidioute until the age of nine.  He lived in Sheffield from then until he graduated from Sheffield Junior-Senior High School. He graduated from Edinboro University in 1969 with a teaching degree majoring in elementary math. During high school, he worked for Baynes Hardware in Sheffield and then for Pete Peterson when Mr. Peterson purchased the store. He earned enough money to buy his dream car, a Chevelle Super Sport.  He was a Boy Scout and enjoyed motorcycles and target shooting eventually becoming a gun enthusiast. In 1976 he married Suzanne Devine Mulkin and moved to Winter Haven Florida. They were married for 44 years. He worked in the insurance industry in Pennsylvania selling insurance before being hired by the  Polk County Sheriff’s Office in 1978 beginning in Corrections and retiring as a  detective in the Office of Accreditation in 2008.

He is survived by his wife Suzanne, by one sister, Margo Mulkin Steffan and husband Mike Steffan of Sheffield, Pa. and one half brother Kerry Mulkin and wife Kim of Shinglehouse Pa. and several nephews nieces and cousins. He is also survived by his 3 kitties who miss him very much. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Lake Wales, FL where he will be interred in the church’s Memorial Garden.

A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 31, 2020 at the Episcopal Church of The Good Shepherd in Lake Wales.
