Richard S. “Dick” Harroun of Water’s Edge in Lake Wales, Florida passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale.
He was born May 17, 1933 in Pontiac, MI to the late Fred and Allena Harroun; he came here from Lake Suzy in 2005. He was retired from General Motors in Warren, MI, attended the Water’s Edge Church and was a veteran of Korea, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was an avid golfer and member of the Lake Wales Country Club. He enjoyed watching sports on TV and dearly loved NASCAR.
Richard was preceded in death by his brother, Bob Harroun; two infant sisters and two step sons, Robert and Allen Crampton. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Shirley J. Harroun; daughters, Gayle Farnam and husband, Chuck of Jacksonville, Bobbi Jo Edwards of Jacksonville and Shirley’s family Linda Makowski and husband, Lenny of Allen Park, MI; daughter-in-law, Penny Crampton of Seattle; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Celebration of life service will be held 1:00PM on Friday, December 15, 2017 at Water’s Edge in Lake Wales. Inurnment will be held at Jacksonville National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Good Shepherd Hospice (105 Arneson Avenue, Auburndale, FL 33823) or any charity of choice.
