She was born January 13, 1950 in Fort Hood, Texas to the late James and Lillian Berrong; she came here from Bereah, Florida in 1971. Shirley was a retired department manager from Walmart and attended Frostproof Church of God. She loved to quilt, crochet, and sew, but she loved the outdoors as well. She loved being with her family, especially being a Mamoo to Logan.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth A. Brewer in 2009. Survivors include her daughters, Shannon Torres and husband Edward of Frostproof, and Brandy Smith of Frostproof; nephew turned son, Kenny Brewer of Avon Park; sister, Mary Lynn Pippin of Jasper, Georgia; brothers, James H. Berrong, Jr. and wife Elma of Bereah, and Milford Berrong and wife Amy of Sebring; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 9, 2020 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Frostproof. The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Frostproof with Pastor Sam Haag officiating. Interment will follow at Silver Hill Cemetery.
