JOYCE’S OBITUARY

Joyce Strickland of Frostproof passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at her residence.

She was born December 8, 1944 in Lakeland to the late Wade H. “Snooks” and Bessie Wardlaw; she was a lifelong resident of Frostproof. Joyce was a graduate of Florida State University and a member of the Alpha Omega Phi sorority. She grew up and was married in the Methodist church; but has been a member of First Baptist Church in Frostproof for many years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family deeply. Joyce enjoyed interior home design and owned and operated Southern Elegance Interiors with her cousin, Mary Elizabeth Story.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Carol Smith. Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Ed Strickland; daughter, Kristie Koger and husband, Jeff of Monticello; son, Shannon Strickland of Jacksonville Beach; one granddaughter, Alexis Shelton and husband, Michael; and one great-grandson, Marshall Shelton.

Memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Frostproof with Rev. Darrol Hood, Rev. Adam Greenway, Rev. Heath Woolman and Rev. Lonnie Norris officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Light of the World Ministries in Jacksonville (www.lightoftheworldjax.org).
