Barbara Schanley Parker, 79, of Lake Wales, Florida died on Sunday June 3, 2018.  Barbara, known by her friends as Bobbi, was born in Brooklyn, NY to Charles and Virginia Schanley and grew up in Bernardsville, NJ.  Bobbi received her Registered Nursing Degree from Alfred University in 1960. She worked as an instructor in a school of nursing, as a public health nurse for the Madison Board of Health, and for a number of years at Morris View Nursing Home.

While her career was nursing, her passion was history and genealogy.  Bobbi spent years researching her family genealogy and helping others trace their family roots.  Bobbi was the author of the 1975 and 1976 Madison, NJ American Revolution Bicentennial Committee calendars, the Madison chapter of “Tours in Morris County”, and co-authored “Madison, NJ Presbyterian Church Vital Records 1747 – 1900”.

Bobbi was predeceased by John V. Parker, her husband of 38 years.  They enjoyed travel, music, trivia and most of all cruising.

Bobbi is survived by her children James E Burnet, IV of Madison, NJ, Debbie B. Howard of Brentwood, TN and four grandchildren, Peyton Howard, Lucie Howard, Jeb Burnet and Paige Burnet.

Services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the historic Hillside Cemetery in Madison NJ.  Contributions should be directed to the Madison Presbyterian Church, 19 Green Avenue, Madison, NJ 07940 and denoted ‘cemetery fund’.
