Adell’s Obituary
Adell McDougald, age 96, passed away at home, surrounded by her family, on February 24, 2020. She was born on August 25, 1923 in Chancellor, Alabama to Osker and Martha Stinson. She married the love of her life, Wilmer Dean “Doc” McDougald on November 4, 1939 and the couple moved to Winter Haven, Florida in 1952 with their three oldest children. After moving, they were blessed with a fourth child in April of 1953.

As well as being a loving wife, mother, and homemaker, Adell often worked outside the home to help provide for her family. She loved to garden, put up her own vegetables, and cook for her family. Over the years, she served her church and community as a volunteer, a Sunday School Teacher, a relentless prayer warrior, and by hosting a weekly bible study in her home.
Her life was a living example of her favorite Bible verse, Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and he will direct your path.”

She was a woman of faith and unfailing love, continuously showing compassion for those around her. She was always willing to help those in need, even when she herself was in need. It has been said that the McDougald house had a revolving door. All were welcome there and would always be greeted with a warm smile, a hug, and most likely, some good country cooking. She was once called “the mother of all” and there really isn’t a better phrase to describe this amazing lady. She devoted her time, energy, and love to raising her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, and so many others that she claimed as hers along the way.
Adell is survived by her sister, Sarah Brewer (age 94); daughters, Carol Cuen, Gail Dixon (R.J.), June Varnum (Al), and Janey Pribilski; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, five brothers, and two grandchildren.

Please join us in celebrating her life Friday afternoon, February 28, 2020 at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Winter Haven. The family will receive guests during a visitation from 1:00pm to 2:00pm. The funeral service will begin at 2:00pm, followed by interment at Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens in Auburndale
