He was born February 22, 1931 in Jacksonville, FL to the late Harold B. and Mabel F. (Smith) Jenkins.

He served his country during the Korean conflict in the United States Navy, and worked at Bethesda Naval Hospital in the nursery delivering babies. He was an Operations Superintendent for State Farm Insurance for 33 years, where he was a charter employee for the Winter Haven Regional Office. He retired in June of 1989 and moved to Lake Wales in 1990. He was of the Primitive Baptist faith and enjoyed golfing and fishing. He was a devoted husband and father.

He is preceded in death by his brothers Merle and Thomas Jenkins.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Dicie Ellen Jenkins of Lake Wales; son Alan Jenkins and his wife Michelle of Winter Haven; sister Dorothy “Fern” Washburn and her husband Carey of Kinston, NC; brother Edwin H. Jenkins and his wife Monte of Jacksonville, FL; and 4 grandchildren, Austin, Brandon, Sarah, and Ryan.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 11 from 11:00 A.M. to service time at 12:00 P.M. at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home Chapel in Lake Wales with an interment to follow at Lake Wales Cemetery. Pastor Mark D. Hodges will be officiating. A reception will follow at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in the Family room.
