Betty C. Lake

Betty Frances Colley Lake, 92, of Winter Haven Florida, passed away at her home surrounded by her family, on _______ after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband, William(Bill) H. Lake in October 1998. She is survived by her children Carolyn L. Stephens, her care giver, of Winter Have, Fl., Joycelyn Sue (Robert) Holliday of Cape Coral, Fl, and William H.(Judy) Lake II of Haymarket, VA. ; grand children Patrick (Mary) Stephens of Morganton, NC; Amy L. Perks , of Shelbyville, KY; Douglas (Laura) Stephens, of Signal Mountain, TN; Michael (Amy) Stephens, of Kissimmee, FL; Laura (Robert) Scheufler of Keller, TX ; Mathew (Tami) Holliday of Ft. Myers, FL; Christopher (Heather) Lake of Lehighton, PA, and Kimberly L. Lake of Haymarket, Va.; and she had 12 great- grand children and 2 great-great grand children.
Betty had a long career of working starting with the Blossom Dairy, The Charleston Daily Mail, Diamond Dept. Store, Keifer Realty, KellyDyer’s Dept. Store,and Haddad’s and McClung and Morgan. Later in life Betty completed her education and graduated from WV State College with her Master’s in Education. She then taught elementary education in Kanawha County, WV. Following Bill’s retirement they moved to Florida, she taught at and retired from the Vanguard Academy.
There will be no services or viewing. A private service for the family will be held at a later date. In lieu of flower’s the family suggest that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or a Hospice of your choice.
