Winter Haven, Florida – Betty P. Maxwell, age 87, of Winter Haven, FL., passed away on Thursday, January 14th, 2021 to her Heavenly Home. She was born on February 5th, 1933, in Biloxi, MS to her parents Vallie and Nolia LePre.

Betty Maxwell retired from GTE phone company in 1992. She is preceded in death by her husband Reverend Carroll S. Phillips Jr. They married on October 24, 1955, in Honolulu, Hawaii. She is survived by their three children, Tommy (Maggie) Phillips, Dawn Schmidt, and Kathy Gunter; their four grandchildren Amber Baker, Josh Schmidt, Cheyenne (JT) Blackford, and Michael Gunter Jr.; and their great- grandchildren Kylie Dowdy, Bailey Dowdy, and Paisley Baker. Betty is also preceded in death by her husband Dr. Melvin Maxwell, who she married on November 24th, 2012 in Alturas, FL.

She was best known for her love of the Lord, family, and her faithful servitude throughout her life for the growth of the Kingdom.  We will celebrate her life and legacy, and the peace in knowing she has entered into the presence of God.

Viewing services will be held at Oakridge Funeral Home on Monday, January 18th, 2021 from 6:00- 8:00 p.m., and funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 19th, 2021 at 10:00 am, beginning at Oakridge Funeral Home with a grave side procession to follow at Lakeside Memorial Park.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to George C. Forsythe Hospice House at 450 Arneson Ave, Auburndale, FL 33823, as they were pivotal to Betty’s care in her final days.
