Mr. Edward L. Hensley
Mr. Edward L. Hensley, age 73, of Hanover, Indiana entered this life on October 27, 1946 in Jacksonville, Illinois. He was the loving son of the late Everett Richard and Edria Grace Kruise Hensley. He moved to the Jefferson County community in 1952 and was a 1964 graduate of Southwestern High School in Hanover, Indiana. He entered the U.S. Army in 1967 and served his country in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged as a sergeant in 1969. Ed was united in marriage to his sweetheart, Brenda McDarment Bradley on June 11, 1977 in Warsaw, Kentucky. This happy union had celebrated 42 anniversaries together. He was self-employed in land development and construction. Ed was co-founder with his wife of the Jefferson County Chapter of MADD due to the death of their son, Adam by a drunk driver on November 20, 1986. He was a member of the English Masonic Lodge No. 622 F. & A.M., the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis and the Murat Shrine. Ed was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family. Ed and Brenda would winter at Lake Wales in Florida where Ed could pursue his passion in fishing with his many friends. He was a man of true character, a patriot, would lend a hand to anyone in need and always had the most amazing smile that would light up a room. Ed suffered a massive heart attack with his loving wife at his side on Sunday January 5, 2020, at his home in Lake Wales, Florida and died that evening at the emergency room of the Lake Wales Medical Center in Lake Wales, Florida.

Ed will be missed by his loving wife of 42 years, Brenda McDarment Bradley Hensley of Hanover, Indiana; his loving sons, Edward Lee Adkins and his husband, Charles Killian of Covington, Kentucky, Jonathan Creg Adkins and his wife Helen of Greenwood, Indiana; his loving daughter, Amanda Campbell and her husband Jeff of Southport, Indiana; his beloved grandchildren, Kari, Christopher, Michael, Sara, Rebecca, Bradley, Benjamin, and Madison; his sister, Joyce Hensley of Panama City, Florida; his sisters in law, Julie Hensley of Hanover, Indiana, Beverly Mason and her husband, Gene of Owenton, Kentucky, Troi Cunningham and her husband, Chuck of Frankfort, Kentucky; his brother in law, Alben “Butch” MCDarment and his wife, Sue of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Everett Richard Hensley, died April 30, 1965, his mother, Edria Grace Kruse Hensley, died in 1990, his beloved son, Philip Adam Bradley, died on November 20, 1986, his brothers, Jeffrey W. Hensley, died November 7, 2011 and James Ray Hensley, died in 1949, his sister, Sue Ann Hensley Thompson, died December 17, 2018, and his father in law and mother in law, Pete Hall, died October 30, 2001 and Mable Ruth Hall, died November 29, 2013.
FUNERAL CEREMONY
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, January 12, 2020, at 1:00 p.m., by Jonathan Creg Adkins at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the New Bethel Cemetery near Chelsea, Indiana.
