JOHN’S OBITUARY

U.S. Veteran

LTC Donald C. Lang, Sr.  Winter Haven, FL 

Donald C. Lang Sr. age 88 of Winter Haven, went to be his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ May 5, 2021 due to natural causes.  He was born on July 30, 1932 in Waterbury CT to the late William J. and Rachel A. Lang.  He attended Leavenworth High School prior to his entrance into the Army via the federalization of the National Guard Unit (43 Inf. Div.) due to the Korean Conflict.  Dons twenty-eight-year military career began as a private and culminated with the rank of Lt. Colonial.  After attaining the grade of Sergeant First Class, he attended O.C.S. and was commissioned a Second Lt.  Additional military schooling included Basic Officers Course, Advanced Officer Course, Command and General Staff College and The Industrial College of the Armed Forces.  Civilian education was in the Engineering field.  While living in Connecticut, Don worked for Timex Corp. as a Process Engineer for seventeen years. In 1980 he moved to Orlando FL and spent an additional seventeen years working for Martin Marietta as a Systems Manufacturing Engineer.  In retirement Don became involved with several military and fraternal organizations.  He was a lifetime member of the Reserve Officers Association, a member of the American Legion Post 8 of Winter Haven, V.F.W. Post 4289 of Winter Haven, Elks Lodge 1672 of Winter Haven, Moose Lodge 3000, and the Eagles Lodge 4469 of Daytona Beach Shores.

Don was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years Deborah M. Lang who passed away in 2006.  Current survivors include his second wife Lois M. Lang of Winter Haven Florida and four children.  Sons Donald C. Lang II, Scott M. Lang, Daughters: Tracy Lang Cafasso and Sheryl Lang; Stepdaughter Andrea Levin, Step sons: Randall Gibson and Darrin Osowski.  Don also leaves behind nine grandchildren, 8 step grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and numerous great grandchildren.

Don’s greatest passion was his love of music Karaoke and Don was synonymous.  He was a real ham, hand him a mike and you couldn’t shut him up.  Sinatra songs were his favorite which gained him the nickname Frank by some of his friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 11, 2021 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Winter Haven.   Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM.  Interment will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, May 12 at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your favorite charities-Cancer, Alzheimer’s and all Veterans Origination are worthy causes.
