Larry’s Obituary

Larry “Joe” Vanderveen, 74, of Haines City, FL, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2019 at AdventHealth Heart of Florida. He was born on October 4, 1945 in Grand Rapids, MI. Larry was a proud US Army Vietnam Vet, serving with the First Air Cav 5th & 7th.

Larry loved God, his family, and his Country, as well as our commander in chief; he was a true fan of Donald J. Trump. He was also an avid fan of the University of Michigan Wolverines football team and his dog Sam and especially loved his time spent with him.

Larry leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife, who was by his side until his final days, Marcia Vanderveen; step-daughter, Heidi (Rob) Barnes; brother, Howard (Connie) Vanderveen; grandchildren, Robbie & Noah; brothers in law, Ben Midgett and John Norton; nephew, John “Jack” (Jayne) Vanderveen; nieces, Laurie “Lor” (Mike) Moser, April (Kurt) Kole and Heather (Kevin) Nelson; and many other nieces and nephews, golf friends, military brothers & sisters, especially those with the First Air Cav 5th and 7th association.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Howard and Lillie Dale Carr-Vanderveen; brother, Jack Vanderveen; and sisters in law, Punk and Bonda.

A celebration of life and dinner will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2020 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Lake Wales Country Club 2925 FL-60, Lake Wales, FL 33898.
