Mary’s Obituary
Mary Jane Gross, 94, died on Tuesday, April 7, 2020. A private memorial service will be held graveside for family members only April 14, 2020.

A native of Pontotoc, Mississippi, she was born August 4, 1925, the daughter of the late Lonnie and Flossie Mae Anderson. She moved to Arkansas as a teenager. In 1953, she moved to Frostproof, Florida, where she lived for the remainder of her life.

Mary Jane had 5 siblings, Lynteen Fleet, Louise Godwin, Lucille Steen, Don Anderson and Howard Anderson, all of whom pre-deceased her. Mary Jane was married to the late Forrest White Gross. She was also pre-deceased by her companion and friend, Horace Elvin Hines.

Mary Jane and Forrest had 4 children together, the late Gary Gross, and Linda Gross Talley (Larry), Forest Dwight Gross (Dianna), and Patricia Gross (Susan Peavy). Other survivors include her grandchildren, Melissa Lawson (Brooke), Jennifer Early (Patrick), and Derek Gross, and extended family include Kimberly Beasley (Mark) and Eddie Talley (Patricia). Her great-grandchildren Jennings Lawson, Henry Lawson, Stoan Early, Sterling Early, her extended family, Preston Tucker, Naudia Tucker, Koren Beasley, Jesse Tucker, Carson Benson, and the children and grandchildren of Patricia Talley as well as many nieces and nephews.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Mary Jane was never more happy than when spending time with her family. She often liked to play cards, cook, tend to plants, and spend holidays with her family. She also enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels in her yard while drinking coffee. Her greatest joy was watching her youngest family members playing.
