U.S. VeteranNannie A. “Nan” Stockard of Frostproof passed away Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale.

She was born November 24, 1921 in Fairmont, NC to the late Joseph M. & Bertha Ashley; she has been a local resident since 1993 coming here from Greenboro, NC. She was retired from Southern Bell Telephone Company, a former member of the Sun Ray Methodist Church and veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. She was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America. She enjoyed gardening and traveling and she loved her country.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Robert L. “Bob” Stockard, Sr.; step-daughter, Susan S. McClellan of Oil City, PA; step-son, Robert L. Stockard, Jr. and wife, Chris of Rowlett, TX; sister, Jimmie A. Baldwin of Mt. Sterling, KY and Hazel A. Jenkins of Jacksonville; and one step-grandchild.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at the Johnson-Nelson-Gill Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell with Rev. Fred Moore officiating.
