She was born June 16, 1950 in Trinidad, West Indies to Jackson and Irene Hem-Lee. She moved to Sanford, Florida in 1999 after retiring from the City of New York where she was a Corrections Captain on Rikers Island and moved to Winter Haven in 2012. She was of the Christian Faith. She loved cooking, traveling and country music. She sang in many choirs, played the cuatro, and the acoustic guitar.
She is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.

She is survived by: her brother Franklyn Hem-Lee, her husband of 37 years, David C Banfield; two sons, Andy Banfield and Frank Banfield both of Winter Haven, FL; and a grandson, Meshach Banfield.
