James Troy Lamb – April 11, 1923 – June 06, 2018 – Obituary

JAMES’ OBITUARY

Surrounded by family, Troy Lamb, 95, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Lake Wales Medical Center. Troy was born April 11, 1923 in Sumner, Ga. and moved to Frostproof, Fl. as an infant. Shortly after graduation from high school, Troy entered the U.S. Army becoming a Lieutenant and B-17 pilot, flying missions over Europe during World War II. Upon completing his military service, Troy returned to Frostproof and founded what would later become Troy Lamb Wholesale Co. His business evolved forty plus years from a candy and sundries dealer into a full line, wholesale, food service distributorship and vending companies. After selling the businesses in 1988, Troy retired for a short period but entered the business world again as accounting manager for his son’s insurance business until retiring again in 2013.

Troy’s passion was his faith, family, and work. He served as Deacon, First Baptist Church of Lake Wales. He enjoyed golf and treasured playing with his friends, children, and grandchildren well into his 80’s. Having been an excellent athlete growing up, he enjoyed following sports and was a fan of the Florida Gators.

Troy is survived by his wife Brenda, children – Marilyn Scarborough, Edward Lamb, and Sheryl Dixon. He is also survived by his daughter in laws, Ann Lamb, Kandi Lamb, son in law Jerry Scarborough, grandchildren Matt Scarborough, Doug Scarborough, Karen Partin, Katherine Gay, Kelli Lamb, Daniel Lamb, Patrick Lamb, Timothy Dixon and eight great grandchildren.

Troy is preceded in death by his first wife Grace Morrell Lamb and his son James (Jim) Troy Lamb, Jr.

Services will be held at the First Baptist Church (Dome Sanctuary) of Lake Wales, Monday, June 11, 2018 with visitation at 2:00 P.M. and funeral service at 3:00 P.M.
