JOHNNY’S OBITUARYU.S. Veteran

 A true native of Polk County, Florida, Johnny Euell “Uddie” DuBose of Babson Park, Florida, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at his home surrounded by family.  He was 87 years old. Johnny was born in Frostproof, Florida, to Ernest Yongue and Ruby Carter DuBose on January 15, 1934, both of whom were Florida natives.Johnny graduated from Frostproof High School in 1952 where he lettered in football, basketball, baseball and track.  Following graduation, Johnny attended Florida Christian College in Temple Terrace before being called to serve his country in the U.S. Army.  Johnny served as a soldier at Fort Jackson, Columbia, South Carolina, where he met Eula Lee Boyd, who would become his wife of almost 62 years.

After leaving the Army and marrying Eula, Johnny settled in Lakeland, and began his career in sales.  From Lakeland to Cocoa to Lake Wales to Kissimmee, Johnny was a successful salesman for J.M. Fields, Sears Roebuck & Company, and ultimately, for Allstate Insurance Company, from which he retired after 38 years.

Johnny was a faithful member of the Church of Christ, serving the majority of his life in the Fortune Road Church of Christ in Kissimmee and in the Church of Christ in his hometown of Frostproof.

Johnny loved hunting and fishing, particularly fishing in Polk County’s largest lake, Lake Walk-in-the-Water, just outside of Frostproof.

Johnny was preceeded in death by his parents; his sisters Margaret Phillips and Ernestine Temple; his brothers Lowell and James.

Johnny is survived by his wife; three sons Johnny Jr., Thomas (Lisa), and Stephen (Jill); five grandchildren Bethany (Josh) Schmucker, Bailey, Jack, Wyatt and Blake; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Saturday, January 30 at the Ramon Theater in Frostproof.  Visitation will be from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m., with services following at 11:05 a.m. Interment will immediately follow.
