Nancy’s Obituary
Nancy Carolyn Lamastus Bass, age 82
Nancy L. Bass of Winter Haven, Florida, passed away Friday, January 10, 2020, at Winter Haven Hospital. She is preceded in death by her father, mother, brother, and 3 sisters.
Nancy was born May 19, 1937, in Scottsville, Kentucky to the late Lewis J. and Ola L. (Lawhorn) Lamastus.

She moved to Ft. Pierce, Florida in 1961 and lived there with her family until they moved to Winter Haven, Florida in 1973. She began her work as a teacher’s aid and then went on to complete her bachelor’s degree in Early Elementary Education at USF. After obtaining her degree she worked in Haines City, Florida as a teacher for several years. She then left teaching and began her long career with Doyle Baseball School in 1978.

Nancy worked as an Executive Administrator for Doyle Baseball for over 40 years. While at the school she had a positive impact on many young lives. Nancy came to think of the Doyle’s, and their families, and those who attended the school as family.
Nancy was an active member of Parkland Baptist Church in Winter Haven, Florida. She taught adult Sunday School. Her joy of singing led her to join the Parkland choir. Nancy would help with many other tasks at the church. She enjoyed and loved her church family.
Nancy was also active in the Sunshine Tree Neighborhood Association. She was always ready to help her neighbors in any way she could. She would take the time to meet as many of the neighbors as she could.

She is survived by her son Steve Bass and his wife Ann of Lake Wales, daughter Lynn Cook of Wolf Point, Montana, Lois Sharpe and her husband Jason of Heath, Texas. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Ben and Clint, Nanci and John, McKenzi and Kaci; 3 great-grandchildren, Aiden, Adam, and Zoey Bass.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00PM Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Parkland Baptist Church in Winter Haven. There will be a fellowship following the service at the church.
