Robert “BOB” Allan Bosworth
April 16, 1933 to February 5, 2021Bob’s Life Mantra was always I Am In The Hands of God. His long and illustrious life reflects this in an ever unfolding and loving way. Born on Easter Sunday God began shining his ever-lasting Light upon him then and Always. He was born and raised in Binghamton, N.Y. He entered the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 and served impeccably for 23 years. He received many awards and commendations including one hand couriered from J. Edgar Hoover, Founder and Director of the FBI.
Master Chief Petty Officer Bosworth also served as an Instructor and Director in charge at the Naval Diving School in Washington, DC, wherein he met and instructed former Apollo 11 Astronauts John Glenn, Alan Shepherd, Scott Carpenter and Gus Grissom.
Master Chief Petty Officer Bosworth was also commended for his outstanding leadership and professionalism which significantly contributed to the success of the first submarine rescue exercise ever conducted between a U.S. Naval Ship and a French Submarine. He was also in charge of Aircraft Salvage Operations in the Gulf of Mexico and as Chief Master at Arms. He also qualified as an Officer of the Deck Underway and Duty Officer in port. Master Chief Petty Officer Bosworth’s professional ability, initiative, and loyal dedication to duty reflect great credit upon himself and the U.S. Naval Service.
Bob was also a Master Mason and served as Secretary of his Lodge for over 20 years.
