SHELLIE’S OBITUARY
Shellie Lightsey, 83, of Haines City, FL passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at her daughter’s home surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 25, 1936 in Geneva, Alabama to Owen and Ruth Braxton-Shepard. Shellie moved to Haines City about 50 years ago from Sebring, FL and worked as a cashier at the Speedway Gas Station, now known as Sunoco, for 21 plus years, until her retirement in 2010. She was a member of Still Water Christian Life Center in Haines City, FL.

Shellie loved the Lord, reading the Bible, her family as well as her dog, “Sable”. She enjoyed crocheting, baking, gardening, crossword puzzles, and watching TV. You could find her watching W.W.E., NASCAR, baseball (her favorite team was the Atlanta Braves), and football (her favorite team was the Florida Gators) and she especially loved watching, Pastor Jimmy Swaggart. Spending time with her family was her number one priority, especially cooking Thanksgiving dinner for them. Shellie was always willing to help anyone who needed help, she would’ve even given them the shirt off her back. Her family remembers her as a kind and loving woman, and she was loved by everyone.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Dennis Lightsey; and stepfather, Elbert Gooding. Shellie is survived by her son, Doug Lightsey and wife, Ginger of Haines City, FL; daughters, Denise Lightsey of Dundee, FL and Dana Lightsey of Haines City, FL; daughter-in-law, Vicky Lightsey of Lake Wales, FL; thirteen grandchildren; and nineteen great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Still Water Christian Life Center in Haines City. Memorial donation can be made to St Jude Children’s Hospital.
