WILLIAM’S OBITUARY

HAINES CITY—William “Bill” Gamper, age 91, a lifelong resident of Haines City, passed away on January 31, 2021. Bill was a proud resident of Haines City and a founding member of the Haines City Historical Society as well as an avid Gator fan! 

Bill started his career in the citrus industry at the University of Florida Citrus Experimental Station in 1948. In 1950, he began working for Haines City Citrus Growers Association and retired in 1993 as the citrus production manager. He also served on the HCCGA Board of Directors for many years. Bill was past president of the Jaycees and Kiwanis clubs and was elected as a City Commissioner in Haines City.

 

Bill was an ordained deacon in the Baptist Church where he was very active holding many leadership positions, teaching Bible classes and Bible studies. He is survived by a loving family who look forward to reuniting with him in heaven. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice or Good Shepherd Hospice, 450 Arneson Avenue, Auburndale, FL 33823. Celebration of Life Services will be announced at a later date.
